Chapter 2 Pt 6

the sounds of gun shots cracked through the air followed by silence. Rainey waited with anticipation to see if same came back. the cries of the calf reached them first and as they came into view the mother tried to rush to the baby fully prepared to ram Sam right off his horse mistakenly taking him as the threat. Rainey was sure to keep her horse between them. she could see how hurt it was. there was no way the calf was walking back. " You, ok?" she asked once he was close enough. "We gotta get these two back and call the vet out asap."
it took a good long while and by the time they were finally close enough to see the barn the sun was setting. Marley was leaning over the gate of the coral watching some of the cowboys do rope tricks as they wound down for the night Alex was not too far off keeping to his self and watching. her eyes grew round and wide when she saw them, and she jumped down rushing to open the gate of a stall so they could usher the mother into it. "Oh my gosh what happened?" she asked closing the gate. Rainey slid from her horse " coyotes...Weres Kate? we need to call the vet. they are pretty bad." Marley nodded towards the house. "Playing dinner host to a bunch of rondos that showed up. I bailed as soon as i could. but ill rush up to the house and have her call...they are probably going to want to see for their self's." her eyes ran over the man with her sister, but she didn't ask questions, just jumped on her four-wheeler and peeled off towards the house.
