The class mumbled and shifted uncomfortable. The day before had been nothing like this. But then the teacher had never showed only sent a teaching aid. Slowly one by one the class weighted into the water. It was only about knee high. But that was enough. They all leaned into the pose, arms and legs in perfect 90 degrees. Chins high shoulders down.
A girl dropped almost immediately as the water moved against her and through her off balance. She looked up at the teacher with fear in her eyes and then burst into tears when she was dismissed. Nya held the position with one arm extended and the other curved delicately by her waist. She focused on her breathing to keep her balance and hold. Her body screamed at her to let down. This was impossible. Unheard of. Another girl wobbled, tried to catch her self before toppling forward and dropping into the water. She didn't even wait for him to dismiss her before running off in tears.
Nya didn't think she could stay this way. She was starting to panic. She closed her eyes and breathed. Pretended she was on the stage. Imagined the music and the motions and this hold. It helped. She herd a splash then a guy tell the teacher he was a prick and to fuck off. She didn't Open her eyes trying to stay focused and not get lost in the pain. She didn't bother to count. As splash after splash told her other class mates had dropped the pose.
After a time her leg began to shake. Her arm was slowly starting to droop. The more she tried to tighten her form and hold the more she shook. She gritted her teeth and squeezed her eyes closed tight. She could do this she could hold. However after a few more moments her body won out offer her will power and with a tremble her leg have out under her and she crumpled into the water. Her heart broke and she sat there for a moment fighting tears this was it. She was done. But when she opened her eyes she was the only one still in the water. The rest of the class was watching her. She hadn't outlasted the teacher but she had outlasted them...she looked up at the professor and slowly tried to stand on her still shaky legs.
