The men looked at the two of you with confused looks. "I am Zargari. Patriarch of this group." He turned his gaze from Voah to Gonyaul. "Husband? We had image you two were both women." He said something in a different language to the other two man who replied back.
"We have never seen anyone look like you. Not even your kind." He said and they now looked at you with genuine interest.
"What do you have to trade?” he asked Gonyaul directly, unsure on why the wife had started the negotiations.
Gonyaul paused mid drink as he heard Zargari’s comment about their appearance. He was almost finished with his beverage because he hadn’t been doing any talking to distract his thirst. In addition, Gonyaul just smiled kindly to his curious appraisal and comment about his uniqueness. He didn’t know what to say.
Gonyaul replied, in Helian now instead of Odsier. It was obvious from his accent and flow that he was not completely fluent in it like Voah and Zargari. Having finished his beverage he had placed his cup down and absentmindedly didn’t realize he was signing with his hands while he spoke.
“Pearl, news and enter-tame-tent?.” He knew Voah had the pearls, he added the news since perhaps they traded in information, and he was trying to say entertainment, perhaps a performance could earn them something of value? He was sure the first would be of interest, but wasn’t sure about the latter two options.
Voah was slightly annoyed that the man would prefer to treat with another man even after he directed his questions at her first, but she knew better than to express it. The misunderstanding was clear as Gonyaul had often been mistaken for a woman. For now, Voah would respect their cultural traditions. Gonyaul spoke well enough to communicate and had offered them all of their available options besides work.
"Pearls are a good commodity in Fang, where we just came from. Not so much where we are heading." He said looking at the strange pair.
"We always welcome news but that we will pay in return with news of our own. As for entertainment well, what is it you do?" He grinned knowing the pair were unaware they were entertainers themselves.
Voah herself was an expert dancer and a lovely singer, as far as Helian standards were concerned. She was also able to sufficiently play a few musical instruments, enough to provide accompaniment, but not with great mastery. She had also performed in some of the theatrical epics that her father acted in.
She turned to Gonyaul, finally taking her cup of water to her lips, awaiting his response. She knew he was a good dancer and could move like an acrobat, but she didn’t know what he had in mind.
