12: Ni-Bump-ght - Part Two

Harry listened intently to Jenny without interrupting her.
“You felt the tingle and the source wasn’t anywhere close by. You are right, that indicates magnitude Dee. I asked Jamie about telepathy, he didn’t get anything and neither did Frost’s little boy. Not a glimmer. And they are the only two telepaths we have. But Jamie did not discount the idea that it was telepathy. He said he had discussed the idea that there might be different wavelengths of telepathy; he and Joshua might not be able to tune into that. But you can.
“Reyes and MacTaggert are usually right. When we get some spare time you an’ me will talk about magic. But it disappeared an’ that to me means it ‘as ‘idden itself in an ‘ost. Hidden itself in a host. This sucker has gone undercover.” Harry knew his accent was thickening up and he didn’t want his translation forma put under unnecessary strain.
Ayala was next and her relation to the spirit world was very different. Ancestral connection was something that they might be able to exploit. If she could tap into the spirits of her descendants… that might be way more effective than slapping wards up all over the place.
“How do we fight it? Once we find it, we cannot kill the ‘ost. This spirit consumes the life force of others, the spirit or soul depending on your point of view. If we kill the ‘ost those spirits will be lost. We have to capture the host so I can banish the evil spirit and free those it has consumed. Then we can ‘and over the ‘ost over to the cops.
“Ayala in your time the population of the world was about four million. Now it’s about seven billion. There are a lot more spirits to go bad.” He hoped the translation forma was able to give her an idea about the magnitude of the numbers involved.
