19: Shen Li (Shen Li Post)
Shen had never thought about language count being significant, not just because he spoke four languages, that was a consequence of growing up in four countries, with parents who actively spoke the chose language of each country they were it, it was continued by going to an international school as well. People in Europe often had the same talent. If some lived in say Switzerland, the crossroads of the Alps, German, Italian, Swiss and probably French were probably spoken regularly. He had just been lucky. He doubted he would have been as fluent if he had lived in a rural part of Thailand.
He dutifully followed Min trying to take everything in on the tour. On thing that had always grabbed him about America was how huge it was. Every place was huge, even the State of New Jersey, which apparently was made fun of for being small. He remembered a road trip from Manhattan to Cape May, four hours the back of the car with Martin talking incessantly about Adam Park was the best Power ranger even surpassing to his other crush Tsuyoshi Hayashi, Deka Blue from Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger. Four hellish hours trapped with Martin's encyclopedic knowledge of Power Rangers and Super Sentai. The point was, as his father had pointed out there was another 1200 miles to the country going south, and he was sure Martin had enough power ranger lore to fill the entire journey and then more for the 3000 miles across the rest of the county going west.
Xavier's seemed to emphasize the enormity of the country, since from his dormitory, he could see the rest of Bangkok proper, while all he saw in all directions here was the school. It was like the school was its own little world, inside a state that was its own little world inside a country that thought it was the world. Fortunately Min brought it all back down into perspective speaking about what could go on in their dorm room, which too was its own little world.
"Dancing is cool, do you free style or some sort of K Pop boy band choreograph?" He asked teasing, not knowing how spot on his assessment was. He didn't actually look at the members of a given group, seeing so many pretty people gathered together made him feel weird. He knew why, he just pretended he didn't. "Maybe we could do a motion capture, and I could make you famous in a cartoon on my YouTube channel."
