Ryusaku was returning from training in the salle, the space had been needed for some other activity. As per his agreed contract with his mentor Bobby Drake he did not have his drones flying inside the house. Or indeed inside any school building.
He was washed, his black hair was neatly in place and he had on a fresh tracksuit. As he entered the corridor to the dorm rooms he saw Kang Park-Min leaving his room. Ryusaku was not the best at reading expressions but he was willing to take a stab that Min was annoyed.
“Rysaku,” he said, his demeanour unchanged but he still gave a small polite bow. “Your roommate has arrived, he is in my room. I believe your title as rudest person on the planet is at risk. Be prepared to be ignored.”
Ryusaku looked at Min’s retreating back, that was an unusual and unprecedented outburst. Kang Park-Min rarely spoke badly of anyone, he never got that annoyed even with Ryusaku. He, Ryusaku, did not go out of his way to be rude or hurt the feelings of others, it just happened that way.
So, the American had arrived. Being ignored suited Ryusaku, perhaps they would get on well after all. He allowed himself a small twitch of a smile before going to his own room. The room was well suited to being in two precise and equal halves, maybe he would get a long curtain in town to hang down the middle as a clear demarcation of whose space was whose.
