19: Shen Li

Min’s head jerked left and then right, the moves were precise and pinpoint accurate as if his fellow members of Aces were choreographing around him at that moment. He was happy he had made it through selection, he knew some saw him as soft as he had been a pampered singer and dancer. They had no idea how hard the life in K-Pop was, it was harsh and it was brutal. In truth he didn’t miss it as the dream had been a nightmare.
He was taking his French qualifications next week, that idea buoyed his spirits and prepared him mentally for the week to come. He was a good student and was confident in doing well. Now he had passed selection he wondered what language he would be assigned to learn during his basic training. He knew passing the three month intensive course included starting a language from scratch and mastering a thousand word vocabulary by the end of the course.
He realised that there was someone else in the room. He had stated during his induction that he had no objection to having a roommate, having seen the luggage he now had one. The youth was Asian, looked older than Min’s sixteen years even though he had a few centimetres on the new arrival, so Min assumed he was older.
He bowed. “Hello Shin. I am Kang Park-Min, or Min, that is less of a mouthful. Welcome to the school and what is now our room” He did not probe with questions as that would have been extremely impolite.
