02.10: No Family

The man was sitting on a brown Chesterfield couch on the long landing outside the room, he had a tablet in his hand which he deactivated and put down.
“It is good to meet you Aurora, nice to see you up and about. I won’t ask how you are feeling because you were shot a few hours ago, and my friend who healed you has done the best job he can. My name is Bobby. Bobby Drake.”
He followed her glance back to the room she had exited. “Daniel? No he is not afraid of you. I doubt you could have hurt him anyway, even had you wanted to. He took multiple bullets and the only thing damaged were his clothes. Not that he is too happy about that as they are all he had. He is special, like you, not in the same way but special.
“He also insisted on staying with you while you slept. He was adamant about not leaving your side, I am not sure he trusts us entirely. I think he feels responsible for you as he accepted our help on your behalf.”
He listened while she told him of her family’s reaction, sadly it was all too common in his experience. But knowing that did not help those who had gone through it too one bit.
“I come from a place where you can be safe Aurora, we look after mutants. And most of us are special too.” Bobby held out a hand and a small wolf formed out of ice.
