17: New Kid in Town

There was this Hollywood trope that the new kid in school was awkward or a nerd
but Roman McKenzie was not going to fall victim to that cliché. He was going to rule
this school and handle any thing it could through at him. He hugged his father after
he signed the school admin papers; he didn't want to make a scene by hugging him in public. Ms. Frost escorted his father back to his car leaving Roman to unpack his two bags. He had packed his goggles and swim trunks and wanted to see the pool that was promised to be the best training pool in the East Coast. He was a decent student with a knack for geometry and Linear algebra and he was too arrogant to not be good at school. He was always either studying or working on his body which he treated like a temple. It was part of his routine to funnel all his excess energy into sports or he tended to be pretty wired and upset.
Roman was taught to channel his rage into sports but sometimes he needed to just vent and he liked boxing which let him beat a sand bag into dust. He was suppose to hide his super strength but at this school he could be himself more and not tiptoe around all the weak people in the world that were less than him.
He practiced his calming mantra so he would speak in an even tone. Roman's dad had sent him to countless therapy sessions to learn to control his anger issues and it wasn't until his 13 birthday till he realized he was not just angry but different. He was a mutant with the ability to control water and even breathe water. He found that being near water made him feel safe, less anxious and damn right incredible. He tended to never be without a bottle of water on him.
The room had a 2nd bed and he had noticed clothes in the other closet. He had a roommate but he wasn't there but there were a lot of kids enrolling so he was bound to meet his roomie soon. He hoped they could get alone as he worked hard on his past friendships and this new school was both exciting but strange.
