JAMIE BRADDOCK
Truth, Jamie knew, was entirely subjective. What was true for a Purifier was in no way the truth for him. Similarly Ethan's view of the two of them was entirely different to how Jamie perceived them.
Jamie was not trying to outshine Ethan, he didn’t have to. The guy was not even on his radar, socially or academically. Socially, they had zero in common. Academically they moved in different circles, Ethan was two years younger than Jamie and was doing remedial classes. He didn't look down on anyone for that, it was just the way things were for mutants.
Jamie had earned his green shirt, while Ethan was still four levels down as a grey. No one had pointed him out as needing guidance or help so Jamie had had no reason to interact with him as yet.
Which suited Jamie just fine.
There were certain students who required his psi-blocks to be active. Ethan was one of these. To Jamie Ethan was a no go area, he knew nothing of what he was feeling or thinking. The guy’s mind was a cesspit and it truly sickened him. If Jamie had been aware of the idea that he, Ethan, thought that the two of them were anything alike, let alone that they were equals, he would have found it very amusing.
He looked up from reading briefing notes on his tablet when he heard his name mentioned. Jamie looked left and right to see if there was another Jamie around when he saw Ethan there.
“Me? What am I doing? Why do you want to know?”
