01.26: Questions - Jamie

“Well, I hope we can become friends,” Jamie said, “I am not from this country so I don’t have too many friends here. More would be nice.”
Jamie was a gregarious and sociable person, apart from Jack he had no friends here as yet he realised. His real friends were all back home. He disliked how the meaning relationships had been diminished here. When he talked about being friends he meant exactly that, friendship was something he truly valued. It wasn’t something easily cast away like last year’s label. He cringed when someone on a TV show declared ‘oh we’re like sisters’, even family was a meaningless word here.
“There are people like you, I am one of them. I cannot do what you can do. My gifts are different.” He waited a moment wondering how to not freak her out. Telepathy was a scary power. “For example. At the Institute they call my ability ‘Jedi Minds Tricks’, its something from a movie. So, if I ever meet your brother I will simply tell him to turn around, start walking and not stop. And he will do that. He would probably collapse from exhaustion eventually. Assuming he didn’t walk into a river or across a freeway first.”
Jamie gestured to the low sleek Audi ahead of them. “Jack doesn’t have any abilities but he stands by the ethos of the school and supports it. And do not worry about questions, they will come in time. I could say trust me but that comes hard I suppose. But I can wait. Trust needs time. At the school you will be safe, fed, cared for and educated, I hope you will find a home with us, a proper home. You will learn about your abilities, your crystals are only a small part of you. You have other abilities and skills, some you might not even know of yet. I can play the piano, drive, ride horses in equestrian competition, swim… we can all do a lot Allora.”
