And Her World Shatters

It was all a blur as Tam was handed Serenity's phone and was suddenly talking to a lawyer. Then Serenity told her to ask the lawyer to come. It was moving so fast...

The lawyer was the first to arrive. A woman in a sharp suit. She filled Tam in on what to say when the police got here, and the process of getting her brother into her custody.

But the police didn't arrive for what seemed like forever.

Eventually the lawyer opted to call them again to get an update on what was happening. But as she was about to call them there was a knock at the door. A police officer who had a cold look on his face.

"I need to speak to Tamara Masters..."

Tam stood up and nodded. "What's going on?"

The officer looked to her then to her friends, then back to her. He seemed to struggle with his words before finally forming a sentence. "I... I'm sorry... We went to your father's home and as we approached the home... " The officer struggled to speak. Clearly disturbed as he tried to find the best way to explain what had happened."We heard two shots and we... we entered and um..." The officer was shaking slightly now. "Ms. Masters I'm sorry but your father's dead..."

Tam suddenly felt weightless. The world fell away. The words danced in her head as if they had no meaning. They couldn't be true, not real...

And then it all became horrifyingly real and her mind went to her brother. "Chris???"

The cop sighed and nodded. "He was shot, they're rushing him to the hospital as we speak."

Tam was already crying as she looked to Serenity and River and Kent. "We gotta get there!"
