Road to Recovery Pt 2
(copost with Jaxx)
Mallow chewed her lip for a moment. "I'll have to think on that, I can only name stuff I know and we're strangers still. Unless you want me giving you one of the 'I ran out of names names' and trust me you don't want that, they are nonsense word gum that sticks in your mouth and you'd not want strangers trying to take you serious saying those out loud and you not being one of my pets." she rambled a bit.
The lizardman was a bit taken back by what Mallow said. It never occurred to him that a bad name will have a long term effect. If he had a bad name it would incite teasing, ridicule and a lot of bad jokes which would not help him properly get along with the others around. So it would be better to be patient and wait for a fitting name since he was starting his new life over in this strange town. For now he would focus on recovering.
Mallow could see the slight look of fearful panic on his face, "Hey, hey...we'll come up with something I just don't want you walking around with a name like..." she paused scooping up one of the small creatures that roamed the house, the babies too small to be outside yet. "Flurgelson here. Say hi Flurgerlson." she said making his front paw wave.
The lizard man looked at Mallow as she made her pet wave it's paw in a friendly gesture. It was clear that Mallow had a way with her pets or flock or whatever she called them. The lizard man was still learning a lot since his memory loss and had little clue as to what was polite and what was considered rude in this place. Granted Mallow was not from a rich or well educated family, but as a person she had her way of living and the lizard man needed to be mindful as to not upset the balance or he would be off on his own in bad shape. It was best to stay humble as he learned the ropes sort of speak. He nodded at Mallow and replied, "You have a way with animals."
Mallow gave an arms up 'what can you do' shrug. "Yeah. Lotta people tell me that, may daddy taught me." she said. "Nothing special. Least not for my kind. Normal folks though might not get through as well. Not..." she snapped her fingers a few times, "As connected with nature." she put her arms above her head like a triangle. "Lived in Houses to long, all bunched together." Mallow said. "Least that what my daddy said about it. "So fist i cated." making it clear it wasn't a common word in her everyday.
The lizard man nodded as he understood what Mallow was trying to say. It seemed like a trade off for people when they gave up life in the wild to a more simple life in a village, town or city. Having to make your own home, food, clothes, medicine and way of life was hard but it did teach one skills to survive. Living in "Civilization" came easier at the cost of learning skills to survive. He was amazed by the simple thinking Mallow had in life. He replied, "That makes sense. So the ones who live in town......what do they do out here to make a living?"
"Most of them work crafty stuff. Making chairs, and foods with the stuff I sell them." she said, "Not really a place for big business like the city from what I've heard trades say. Tailors and such. Not a big thing out here, no weapons smiths either, have to do with the black smith and his 'less then ideal' wears 'corrding to my daddy at least." Mallow said, "But we can start trying to get you on your feet tomorrow. Walk a bit so your legs stay strong enough and we can eventually get into town and you can gander for yourself." she told the lizard man.
