(An'neer) Slave of Zatar ~ Part 02
Left to her own ends for the evening An’neer pacing the length of the corridors of the household holding her favorite abyssinian lovingly in her arms while her thoughts drifted briefly to the asks that needed to be performed the next day. It was then that she felt pain lance through her head as the all too familiar presence entered her mind.
“My Queen.” An’neer spoke aloud in a voice that was not much more than a whisper as she bowed her head in submission offering a quick glance around her to insure that she was alone.
“What have you to report An’neer?“
Nodded her understanding before she spoke. “ My Queen, There has been some news about what has happened but the priests and nobles of the city have suppressed any real details regarding the matter and punish any who would dare speak publicly on the matter. There are a few rumors but my sources tell me that these are being spread by agents of the temple in an effort to suppress the truth. In the majority most simply believe this to be just another slave uprising that the Prince of the City will crush soon enough.”
There was a long silence before the Queen spoke again.
“ Any word regarding troop movements or reinforcements from other cities? ”
“ No, my Queen.”
“ What about foreign agents and mercenaries ? “ The Queen inquired.
“ None my Queen.”
“ And what news regarding the members of the royal family who fled the city? “
An’neer had been about to answer her Queen’s inquiry when her senses warned her of an unseen danger. Her Queen sensing the danger as well withdrawing leaving An’neer to deal with the matter.
Scanning the darkness of the corridor An’neer’s gaze came to rest on a trio of glowing feline eyes staring back at her from the far end of the corridor.
“ Bloody familiars.” An’neer hissed sharply.
Almost as common as rats in the lands of Zatar. familiars in their many assorted types could be found throughout the realm spying or causing mischief of one sort or another.
In the household of her Mistress familiar’s were not common if one bothered to look. Some having been sent by Lucetria’s assorted would-be suitors to keep tabs on the comings and goings of the household while others were sent by overzealous clients who liked keeping taps on the exploits and misadventures of their favorite girls.
“ Don’t think I can’t see you.” She hissed sharply, watching the trio of felines scatter like parchment in the wind disappearing quickly from sight.
