Race/Appearance

Standing at 183 cm, Soldor is a distinguished and somewhat attractive man in his fifties with black hair, brown eyes, and a light beard and moustache. Though born of wealth and privilege, even for nobles Dalen is a hard land where privation and violent death is a constant reality, and this is a life which has given him a rugged build beneath his fine wizard robes.

Personality/Interests

A convivial, sly, scheming man, but with an overall sense of decency, Soldor dreams of restoring Dalen to its previous greatness. Seeing Draken as a tool to that end, he has become the half-demon's most vocal supporter for the throne.

Brief History

Estoban Soldor is the only known son of the late Count Chiren Soldor, one of the highest ranking members of Queen Thalia's royal court. Born decades after her reign, Estoban was raised on stories of those glory days before the massive destruction caused by the Timber Crag which left the land devastated and wracked in endless civil war and privation. In his youth he met Horo Inu and Hemlock Nightshade, as well as Enanth Stormcrow, a friend of his father's and onetime fellow member of the Circle of Mages. These people had a positive effect on Estoban and as a result he is not as ruthless and hardhearted as his father was. When the elder Soldor died, Estoban took control of his father's personal forces and went on to wage a successful campaign against many of the petty warlords that had carved out independent fiefdoms for themselves throughout Dalen. Estoban made a habit of returning the captured land to the noble families who had owned it in Thalia's time. His personal prestige grew and the efficacy of his military organisation eventually won over his fellow nobles to unite with him in a power bloc that would come to be known as the Soldor Bastion.

Arms/Equipment

He owns innumerable choice artefacts salvaged and gathered by his father from the destroyed homes of Dalen's great wizards killed by the Timber Crag, even including some items previously owned by Queen Thalia herself. Beneath the vaults of his palace Soldor also is in possession of the former Royal Archives.

Soldor is an expert mage, a wizard like his father before him. He can cast dozens of spells from his collection of arcane lore.

He is a skilled statesman whose artful diplomatic manoeuvring allowed him to unite all the noble factions in Dalen under his banner.

Fears/Weaknesses/Phobias

Soldor fears Gelt, recognising the Crimson One as far beyond his experience and ability to stand against. He has a healthy fear of the powerful beasts of the Abyss that made Dalen their playground all his life. He also fears Dalen's oldest foe, Verden, which has a mighty, well-trained, and disciplined army that could destroy the Soldor Bastion handedly if it so chose.
