A Talk About ...
Beach Party: Day 2 (afternoon)
JP with LaserSexPanther
Learning how to surf had been fun and Dawn had spent a little time laying in the sun but was getting hot and wanted to go inside for a little while. She watched as people gathered for the volleyball game but really had no interest in that. She didn't expect to really find anyone inside so was a little surprised to find another girl in the beach house. "Hey, " Dawn said softly.
Jocelyn shot up straight, letting out a little sniffle. "Ah...hi..." she said, wiping her nose. "I...expected to be alone...sorry..." she mumbled, taking a moment to try and compose herself.
"No, don't apologize. It's ok. I mean do you want to talk? Or not, it's fine. I can listen, or offer a shoulder or even offer some chocolate or ice cream." Dawn wasn't one to not offer to help but not like Jocelyn needed to take her up on the offer. "Or, well, if you'd rather be alone I can just go."
"It's nothing. I shouldn't even be crying...it's stupid." she said, "Guys can just be so stupid, or...I guess I can be... I should have been better with my words." Jocelyn sighed, "I just...he...he asked if I was okay, and I said yes...and he just got up and dusted the sand off and left to play a game. He worries more about flirting than talking...it's stupid...i thought I was special...he made me feel special anyway then just tossed me away because I...I don't know...I'm not flirty, or bubbly, or fun and have secrets and can't tell him everything."
Dawn sat down and listened to Jocelyn talk then thought for a moment. "Oh. Guys. Some guys are weird and fickle. Some can't handle any complications. They see secrets as complications. I know this might seem cliché or not help a lot at the moment but I do mean this, if he's that kind of guy then you're probably better off without him. I mean he sounds like he'd flirt with any girl and some girls don't mind that but it's not for everyone."
Jocelyn looked down. "I know, I have lot of things I am dealing with, and I just he made me feel special." She said, "You are right, I need to focus on other things, but I don't know. I don't owe people at trying to know everything about me... right?"
"Of course, you don't. And there are guys who would be fine with that. I think you'll find someone, it just might take some time, the school year is young." She paused for a moment. "You know a bunch of us single girls should get together sometime and do something fun. No guys." Dawn really did think that would be a good idea, the beach party seemed to have a lot of couples going and while that wasn't a problem, per se, it did leave some people out.
Jocelyn nodded, "It's not like I haven't seen other guys that I think are hot and nice, but you know... something about being made to feel special makes you not think clear, and it's something even if it might not mean anything."
"I understand that." Dawn commitmented, "Some guys do that without realizing they are doing it, others do it intentionally. Either way, I don't understand why guys do that. Make you think there is something there when there isn't. Maybe, they just don't think." She knew her last comment might have been the reason many guys did that kind of thing.
Jocelyn shrugged. "I'm still trying to figure out all of this stuff. It's hard to understand what most people think." she said. "But I don't really know how to deal with this later." she said. "I know he'll talk to me, so I don't know how to react after."
"Maybe, then just give yourself time. I'm from Vegas and have met a variety of people and I still don't have some of them figured out." Dawn said. "So, when he talks to you, maybe just talk back but it doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of time with him, until you're ready." She paused. "I don't know if I'm being much help but I'm still willing to help you drown your sorrows in junk food, if you want."
"I usually don't eat junk food, but I think today could be an acceptation. I might even get something greasy for dinner." Jocelyn said. "I don't want to over do it though."
"Well, I think for dinner the school is doing burgers and hot dogs so I'm pretty sure they'll have greasy stuff with that. Have you had anything from the ice cream or dessert cart, yet? I was thinking about getting something from them. "
Jocelyn shook her head. "Not really. I shared something with somebody earlier today but didn't finish it." she said. "I don't really do sweets very often." she explained. "But I might get something else."
"Do you want to go get something? We could bring it back here?" The desserts weren't too far from the guest house. If not then Dawn could go get something on her own, either way was fine with her.
Jocelyn nodded. "Yeah... We should go get it." she paused. "I don't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing he's got his hooks in me, and wallowing in self pity." she said.
Dawn smiled, nodded, and walked with Jocelyn to the desserts.
