Another Ally
Blossom watched as Kyle and Justin were talking. She didn't want to be a third wheel so she gave them some space. Then Kaylee approached Blossom.
Kyle saw Justin approach and he talked with him for a little while before saying. "Hey, you good with Dawn joining us to learn to surf? I sort of promised her like a week ago and I'd feel bad backing out on her now."
Of course, Dawn was also noticing Kyle and Justin. Actually, looking down the beach she saw, not only Kyle and Justin but JD and Rose, Matt and Courtney, and then there was Kaylee and Blossom who she didn't really know whether Kaylee would be teaching Blossom or not though she was certain the last weren't in the same house as the others. She was feeling though like maybe it would be cutting into Kyle and Justin's time together. So, she started looking for an out, a way she could still learn and not be a third wheel and not make Kyle feel bad.
Blossom then worked up some courage to talk to Kaylee. She was hoping to get a long like she did with Ashley and some of the other cheer squad. Sadly some of the snobby cheer squad ruined it a bit for her since they looked down on her without even talking to her ever. Blossom then spoke up.
Blossom: Hello Kaylee. Have you ever surfed before? I am so nervous.
"Oh, I've been surfing since before I can remember. I think it's almost a requirement of living in California your whole life. If not surfing, then skateboarding or well outdoors stuff in general. We didn't live at the beach but spent a lot of weekends there." She paused. "Where are you from? Sorry, if you've been asked that like 10,000 times already." Obviously, exaggerating for emphasis. "I think if not so many people knew my brother I'd be asked that question a lot as well." Usually, the fact that Kaylee spoke French in the way she did threw people off and they would think she was from Canada or something but getting to know her made them more away she was from California.
They finished their walk as they returned. Lance was asked to play some beach games. He thought it a good time to get some of the rich kids together to play against the Scholarship kids. Elena kissed him and told him to go She was going to find a few friends and see what they were doing.
Courtney noticed the rich kids and some of the scholarship kids (and their friends) gathering for what looked like the start of a game. She turned to Matt and nodded towards the groups forming down the beach. "Well, that's better than fights breaking out."
Matt turned to see what Courtney was looking at and nodded. "Yeah, but if the rich kids lose how will they take it."
"How they always take it. Their egos will be bruised but I think they are trying to dial down the actually attacking others for a while." Courtney watched some more as the rich kids started gathering around. Looking for someone or two of them in particular. More arrived and she still wasn't seeing who she was looking for. She bit her lip.
"What's wrong?" Matt asked.
"Someone is missing?" Courtney responded truthfully.
"You mean that new girl Mel and Doug?" Matt asked.
Courtney raised a brow at him. "I guess it wasn't that hard to figure out considering how much time we've been spending together."
"What is the deal with all of that? It seems like your trying to keep them apart." Matt asked. "Do you have a thing for Doug?"
Courtney shook her head. "That idea is somewhat nauseating. No, of course not. I'll explain everything later. Right now, I need to find out if anyone knows where they went."
"Ton souhait..." Matt suddenly released he had said that in French. "Sorry, that means 'your wish'." With that he headed down the beach. He stopped and talked to a few of the cheerleaders and then one of the football players that he had seen hanging around Doug a lot. It didn't take long before Matt was back by Courtney. "It seems as if Doug took Mel on a picnic, off-site."
Courtney closed her eyes and breathed. She grabbed her phone and checked it, no messages. She could only hope that meant nothing was wrong. She really couldn't keep up with this and with Conner splitting his time between the girls in his life she doubted he would be much use until she actually called him. She chose not to at the moment because there wasn't much anyone could do at the moment. Doug could have taken Mel anywhere, really. So, she turned back to Matt. "Ok, I'll fill you in but the only people that know are Conner, Zander, and Dawn." Well, maybe Dante but she still wasn't sure about that. "So, I really need to keep it to yourself."
"Deal," Matt said.
The two sat down and Courtney filled Matt in. He had pretty much suspected what she told him, anyway. When Courtney was finished Matt said. "Well, like I said before I'm here to help if you need me to."
"Thanks," Courtney replied "but there isn't much to do at the moment. Why don't we get back to surfing?" She smiled at him but the feeling in her stomach that something was wrong wouldn't settle right away. They got into the water and Matt continued to teach her to surf, which got her mind focused on something else but she was still worried.
