Mar was utterly shocked and confused by Serenity's reaction to his plan. And stood dumbfounded as she left the ship. Mar was able to snap out of his fugue fast enough to race after her and catch her before she had gotten too far from the ship.

"Serenity! Stop! I am not abandoning you! I never will!" He felt anger rising in him at how silly she was doing. However she was still walking away. So he did the only thing he figured he could do. He seized her with the force and pulled her back to him. However he didn't do it in a threatening manner. He did it gently, taking care not to harm her as he drew her into a big hug. "Listen well, my padawan. I promise to never leave you. I am your master, and I will always be by your side."

Once things relaxed. Mar let Serenity free of his arms.

"We are here because I need help. I... I'm still trying to learn to walk the path of the light side. And I realize now that I can't properly train you without help. And I can't train you, Quint, and Ghost on my own. I need help. Make no mistake, Serenity, you are my student. Nothing will change that. However, if I teach you the wrong things, then that is on me. I don't want to do that. So we're here to find someone who can help with that, and hopefully help me train the others while I focus on training you. Do you understand me?"
