Knowing When To Quit

Despite being cut into, thrown, and shot at, the Ring was able to free itself from the wall. Flying to where Ripper stood, it took each hit from the blaster that Mar was shooting with, letting out loud clicks as it spun in place. The owner gazed through the center of said ring with narrowed green eyes, turning his attention back to Serenity and raising the double-bladed sword in attack.

"No!" Ghost screamed as instincts kicked in and she rushed forward, slamming into Serenity. Wrapping the young teenager in her arms, she looked up at Ripper with rage written all over her face.

For reasons even unknown to him, Ripper froze and stared at her face for a long moment. Lips pulling back in a snarl as he slowly lowered the double-bladed sword. "Don't look at me like that..." He muttered, glancing at everyone around him.

He knew when he was outnumbered.

Deciding to back off, he let the double-bladed sword settle against his back and grabbed onto the ring. "We're done here..." Looking to Mar as he spoke, he chuckled. "Well, for now." Turning, he used the ring to return to the roof and seemed to disappear into the dark as night fell upon the world.

Letting out a shaky breath and turning her attention to Serenity, Ghost asked, "Are you okay?" Her entire body was visibly shaking, the fear and panic still not dissipating just yet. It was already frightening enough to run from Ripper alone, but to have so many people see and fight him was a reminder of how obsessed the man was.

She dreaded the questions they would soon be asking her.
