Rebuild

Mar was quick to realize that Serenity had fallen asleep, yet he was still unsure whether or not extricating himself from the situation was the best idea. The poor child needed rest and had finally found it, why ruin that after all?

What would you do? Mar asked, his eye falling to the amulet still clutched in Serenity's hand. Of course... let the girl rest... So Mar sat against the bulkhead with the exhausted padawan fast asleep against him. His eyes darted around the room as boredom set in. He could hear Quint and the others working diligently to fix his ship. Kindness from strangers, he made a mental note to make it up to them in some way, be it food or credits or simply his help.

After a while Mar felt he was able to finally free himself from Serenity, he carefully moved and lifted her limp form over to the nearby bed so she could sleep properly. Mar noted she still had Tal's amulet, and decided it was fine where it was. Serenity knew the significance of the amulet now, and it was clear The Force had worked through it to her, to help her. And Mar liked to think Tal had a hand in it as well.

Then came the fact that both their lightsabers were in pieces on the ground. Mar grimaced and quickly got to his knees and focused, reassembling his own lightsaber before turning to Serenity's. While initially hesitant to reassemble the hilt himself, out of respect, he also felt it prudent Serenity had access to her weapon should the need arise. Rebuilding the hilt was of little difficulty to Mar, and the crystal seemed unperturbed by Mar's handling of it via The Force. When he finished he made a conscious choice to leave Serenity's lightsaber within her reach, on the nearby crate that served as a nightstand. This was Mar's bed after all, and he hadn't actually prepared for guests.

Finally he looked to the sleeping Serenity and a small smile formed on his face. "Rest, young one. You have had a busy day, one of many..." And with that, he left the room and decided to seek out his second padawan, Quint to see just how far along she was in her training before he had to take her on as well.
