Always a price

Tiella took the gift and turned the blade over in her hands. She traced her finger over the moon symbol on its haft and felt the familiar spark of power within. She frowned slightly as she tried to fathom the nature of this "gift" it's magics were alien, much like those of Luna, but connected to the elven kindred in some way of that she was certain.
She glanced up to thank the conjured shadow and found that it had disappeared into the night, leaving only the cold breeze to play against her skin. She shivered and with a grim purpose she sheathed the dagger.
So the shadow was a giver of gifts? First poor lost Luna and her staff and now Tiella, in the well of her sorrow it had reached out and given her what she longed for most. Power. She did not trust such convenience, and as she made her sullen way back to the others she began to consider how she should deal with this unexpected boon.
There was always a price for power, of that she was certain.
