Will they ever get along?
“Was I present at the moment of your birth? No. I was not consulted when your parents named you so why should I obligate myself to use of such a name? Besides, Luna and Moon are much the same and you are a child; in the eyes of your shadow slave and each of us who travel with you. You run towards confrontation when you should flee. You advocate mercy and kindness when a knife to the gullet would be more fitting.” Cali pointed to the bound Theo who was looking more upset by the minute.
“You are right to fear me, Luna,” and Cali almost choked the name as she said it. “I have done things that would break you. By the time I was your age I was no lady and twice the woman that you are. I intend to do things yet that would ruin the lot of you; mind, body and soul. But I have always been honest with you. Ask your questions. Probe my experiences to identify those which hold meaning to you and aid you in your quest for power and mastery over the shadows. That is how you can approach me. See something in me that you want and take it! Don’t try to be my friend - that will not end well for you. Don’t phrase your requests in an attempt to avoid my ire. Don’t pick your teacher because he has a soft smell and a hard di--”
“Yes yes, we get it, Witch,” Tiella cut Cali off, having had enough of the intimidation that was once again directed at Luna. “You are full of menace and peril and lechery. Duly noted. Can we move on?”
Cali was perturbed at having been so deflated and Luna was genuinely curious about the benefits of time spent with Olin. They walked at length and the talking continued. Caligari squeezed the green stone in her hand and pondered Luna’s question. She was not sure how to go about freeing Olin completely, and in truth she wasn’t convinced that was what she wanted. There hadn’t been time to study the magic that bound Olin to the possessor of the stone and despite what corded muscles and heavy hammers might think, smashing a magical stone was not always the best course. Whatever magic bending Olin’s will to compulsion was, for now, safely housed within the stone. Break the stone and set that power loose, well that could spell trouble for them all. Fortunately for Luna, Cali’s mind was elsewhere and she missed the Elf’s slip about being the daughter of a chief. Cali was however, brought out of her thoughts by Theo’s shouting. The binds on the assassin’s hands were adjusted and he attempted to negotiate for his release, but no one seemed to consider it for a moment. Cali had wanted to cut his throat. Luna threatened to feed him to her Shadow slave. Kespin, the old man who inexplicably stirred a carnal itch in Cali - he was actively striking the assassin with a stick. And of course it looked like the Ice Giants would eat the prisoner for his troubles. None of them were having a good time of things, but Theo had the worst of it.
