Jotun's Heart of Stone pt.1
Erik felt the chill of the world vanish as he ventured into the hall. In its place, the warm breeze of summer washed over his bare skin. Feeling his shoulders, the spikes that had formed on him had vanished as well.
"What madness is this?"
He was suddenly thrown to his knees, but not from any physical strike. It was a weight he remembered all to well, looking at his hands and recoiling in terror at the sight of chains.
Shackles appeared on his wrists and ankles, though the chains remained long enough to allow mostly free movement.
"Up beast!"
That voice...Why that voice?
A man walked out of the shadows, his large stature and muscles making him a giant among men. He still had to look up to address his slave.
"I said UP. Those chains bind your rage, not your legs."
A whip was drawn and used with fervor, stones and metal embedded in the tool easily drawing blood.
Heaving against his burden, Erik nearly toppled as the scene vanished into darkness.
Attempting to move forward, he found the shackles still remained as he stumbled back to the ground.
Looking up, he screamed in agony at a scene he wanted so desperately to forget.
A little girl stood on front of him, her simple dress frayed and dirty. She smiled at him, a smile that brought tears to the giants face.
"Don't cry Erik, the big bad giant doesn't get to cry."
Her giggle sent a shudder through his soul and he collapsed, heaving sobs in the pitch black.
