Vengeance

VERY WELL

The voice of the Necromancer boomed through the corridor in response to Lunas remark. Up ahead the staircase became illuminated and up and down the hallway the doors began to rattle on their hinges as if being shook from the inside.

"Oh great, piss off the all powerful Necromancer while we are trapped in his basement. What could go wrong with that?" Majvoc gave the others a withering glance and started to move towards the staircase at pace.

The others followed and soon found themselves climbing the staircase that switched back and forth as it climbed to the heights of the great structure. As they walked torched sprang into life ahead of them.

Balar stooped at one point to examine a dismembered corpse lying in their path. It had deep gouge marks across its torso and its upper limbs had been torn away leaving only ragged and rotten flesh in their place.

The moved past floor after floor, door after door. Always rising as the lights sprang to life ahead of them. At last they came to a heavy set of oak doors with the now familiar claw marks torn into its surface. From within the sound of battle could be heard. Balar and Jorrik gave the door an almighty shove and the door burst inwards revealing a scene of utter carnage.

The undead were everywhere, for the most part ripped into shreds. Several of those remaining standing turned and charged at the group who were for the moment dumbstruck as they saw beyond, the strange northerner Amdir sitting astride her wolf. They were locked in fierce combat with a tall shadowed figure who could only be the Necromancer. Suddenly the markings they had seen made sense, the sudden disappearance of Amdir and Naurfast the day before. Seeing their fallen kin they had raced ahead to seek vengeance.

"Draw weapons!" Jorrik screamed out as the undead turned and lumbered towards them.
