Theo faltered at this point, he had hoped she would go to the fire with no question, removing further conversation. Now he had to find a way to seem sympathetic.
“I don’t think whatever waits for us here will matter about our inner struggles. The best we can be is miserable but rested and dry.”
He couldn’t call it his best, but for him to be talking calmly to any no -human was something.
“You know where the fire is, you’re more than welcome to it.”
An awkward nod and he left to further dry his clothes, huddling close while keeping his distance from the others.
