Somewhat recently, I started to become overwhelmed with the amount of Ongoing Worlds projects and characters I committed to. At first, I tried and mostly succeeded in keeping up with everything at the cost of putting off real-world responsibilities, but after two weeks of that, I burned out hard. When this happened, I quickly fell behind with a bunch of prompts, and a started to feel stressed out by the load of things I felt I needed to do but didn't have the energy nor desire to do. After two weeks of writing next to nothing but more or less promising that I would, I realized that I just couldn't do it anymore. Eventually, I decided to dump most of my characters in the game that was giving me the most heartache (Two Kingdoms), and decided to move on. Since then, I have been able to enjoy Ongoing Worlds again and I am still able to get things done in real life, but I fear that I have effectively killed the game that I largely abandoned.
Do you guys think I could have handled this situation better? Have you guys ever been in a similar situation, and if so, how did you handle it?
