Ceriden sighed as he saw cracks spread across the barrier. And so it begins in earnest.
The mage glanced back toward Gareth and the dying soldier while he incanted another spell that he then cast toward the barrier moments before it shattered. This spell would cause the soldiers to see two illusionary copies of himself, which would be standing off to his right. Gareth and the soldier would be unable to see these illusions as Ceriden had not cast the spell on him.
When the barrier shattered, Ceriden began to move away from the advancing soldiers to his left (their right), while one copy backed away somewhat toward Gareth and the other started to move toward their left. The mage began to incant a fourth spell, holding his right hand out toward the red-haired soldier in the front. The illusionary clones mimicked this gesture, aiming their hands at the red haired soldier as well.
Ceriden would finish incanting his spell in a little under 10 seconds, at which point Ceriden and his clones would launch a stream of lightning at the soldier taking point (although only one of the streams of electricity would be real). This spell would be less like a bolt of lightning, which would have the disadvantage of staggering the soldier, potentially revealling which bolt was real. The stream, on the other hand, would just hurt the soldier a lot over the duration of however long Ceriden kept the spell going. It would probably take about 15 to 25 seconds of continuous electrocution to incapacitate the large soldier. Hopefully Gareth would give him time to thin their numbers a bit before engaging in melee.
