An answer and a question

Nate couldn’t help but notice the ”milord” the man unnecessarily added to his sentence. But simply by adding this one-word Nate now had got his most important question answered: This man did not know that he was speaking to one of the royal family. In that case he would have said “Your Royal Highness”, “Your Highness” or simply “Sir”, at least that was how people addressed one of the royal family in Verden.

Remaining calm, but unintentionally pausing slightly, Nate replied “I am simply on my way to the capital to sort out some business.”. The man might not know that he was the prince from Verden, but had somehow figured out that he was of noble birth, so Nate still had to be careful. Maybe a little “distraction” would work on this inquisitive man. “Would you care to join me for a drink? I’ve heard that the ale from this region is particularly good” he asked with a friendly smile upon his lips.
