A simple meal
Nathaniel quietly, but politely thanked the innkeeper when he brought him his breakfast. As the old man had left he looked down at his plate with a certain degree of scepticism before tasting the ominous looking shepherds pie in front of him. Despite how hungry he was he found it hard to swallow even just one bite of it. This definitely had nothing in common with the kind of shepherds pie he had been served a few times at home in the castle, but he tried hard to remind himself of that this meal would still be better than nothing.
While holding back his displeasure he managed to finish most of his meal, but couldn’t quite eat it all. Now that he had finished eating he noticed the young man who was sitting at another table nearby. He was rather thin and wearing a peculiar eyepatch with some sort of strange sign on. He didn’t exactly look as one of the regular travellers he’d met before, but for all Nate knew he might not be that more different then any of the others he’d meet so far on his journey. Nonetheless, he discreetly turned his gaze to the fire, trying to avoid getting any direct eye contact with the stranger. It was simply too risky and now, being so close to the capital, any mistake from his side would be harder than ever to make right before it would be too late.
As a sign to the innkeeper that he had finished his meal he placed his cutleries on the plate before pushing it slightly away from him to signal that he could come at get it now.
When being closer than ever to Queen Thalia, Nate had to seriously start thinking of how to formulate himself in order to hopefully make her understand and maybe even sympathise for quest. It wasn’t an easy task and if he failed it would most likely have dire consequences, but he knew this would have to be done and that he would probably have a higher chance of success by doing this personally than simply by sending a messenger.
