Erik could immediately sense a shift in the unknown sentient's hostility, which was now being directed toward Erik himself. Said sentient then charged in his direction. Time to go.

Erik turned around and fled into the forest, floating low to the ground and at a relatively slow pace so that the angry sentient could keep up. For a moment, he considered leading his pursuer to his master and vampire friend, but he decided against such a move. Erik didn't want his master to know that he was capable of some semblance of free will quite yet.

Instead, Erik lead the guy deeper into the forest, slowly letting the enraged man gain on him so as to give the guy the impression that his attempt to catch him wasn't futile. As the chase continued, Erik suddenly detected a large beast in the forest ahead. Changing his direction slightly, Erik floated straight toward the beast, hoping perhaps the creature would enjoy the meal Erik was bring it's way. Once Erik got close to the beast and could sense it's ire, he changed his direction to straight up, hastily floating to safety up in the canopy of the forest. So long sucker, hope you like your new friend.
