The Turning Tide

Auriel took a breath before continuing, "Then I got reports of a disturbance in the town of Gaffen. Apparently someone offed the slaver lord that ran that place..." Auriel couldn't help but glance back at Jack as she said that last part. "The same person was then reported to have attacked another slaver gang in the town of Llandry. I sent some agents to these towns to capitalize on these opportunities then made my way to Rohan to prepare to search for the heroic individual responsible for putting those slaver scum in their place."
"I saw the bounty for him and the slave that was accompanying him," Telebrin stated. "I assume your friends are them?"
Auriel grimaced. "Is it that obvious?"
"In context, yes it is, but the guards shouldn't be so quick to catch on. They are quite occupied with a number of other things at the moment. There have been a number of strange murders recently that have the guards in a tizzy."
"Is there anything else you need to know?" Auriel asked.
"No, that will do, commander. Thank you for your time."
Auriel nodded, then waved him away. She turned back to Jack and LeLu. "I forgot about that particular process. Hopefully I won't need to give such a report at every safehouse we stop at, otherwise, this could take a very long time. Are you two ready to go?"

Jack smirked at Auriel as he shook his head.

Jack: Wow...........you really are a leader of spies huh? I guess the apple didn't far from the tree since you have mom's naughty sense of humor and a head full of knowledge. I'm kinda relieved you are my big sis.........you would be troublesome as an enemy for me.

LeLu: I feel out of place in this conversation.

Jack: Relax Mia. She is your sister in law after all.

LeLu: So you will acknowledge me as your wife now?

Jack: Well even though its a marriage of convenience for now.

LeLu: I see...........so I still need to win you over?

Jack: You are funny Mia.

LeLu: What do you mean?

Jack: We are now criminals, spies and on our way to get forged documents and your only concern is if I have feelings for you.

LeLu: But.........I want to be of use to you.

Jack: Just be you and that will be enough okay?

LeLu: Okay......thank you. What if I buy human lingerie?

Jack: Mia? My sis may be comfortable with her potty humor, but I am not comfortable having this conversation in front of her.

LeLu then noticed Auriel grinning at her which caused her to blush and look down. It was obvious LeLu was hard up for Jack's affections and forgot they were not alone. LeLu then looked at Auriel.

LeLu: My apologies. I was lost in my thoughts.

Jack rubbed LeLu's head and smirked at her.

Jack: Relax darling. It won't be long before we start our new lives. To be honest I am looking forward to get to work and taking the slavers out of commission. Hey Elthien.....how long before we can moving again? I am itching to get our plan in the works.

Jack had a sly grin on his face as he pulled LeLu close to him. He couldn't wait to take the form of Kalena Valade and claim she was backing the Rising Star now. He wondered if she would be able to handle the idea of being hunted by those looked down on.
