The Price of Life

"None of these animals deserves to die like that...".

Ceriden rolled eyes. His mood, having soured significantly from his brush with the Commander, rather thoughtlessly replied, telepathically, "Are you seriously that concerned about the well-being of these animals when you wanted to sacrifice a man, a man who has lost everything, even his humanity, for this resurrection spell? I'm assuming that you believe that the person you want resurrected is worth more than the person we are going to sacrifice. That is still the case here. The animal we purchase to feed Gareth is worth the price, I assure you. And besides, most of these creatures aren't going to live long, happy lives anyway. That cow over there, if we don't buy it, is probably going to get purchased by someone else who will milk it for all its worth before chopping its head off and selling the meat."

Out loud, Ceriden said, "No, there is no other option. He has to eat something. You bought him, so you have to take care of him. Now lets get this over with."
