Fair questions

Stopping in their tracks, she turned to look up at him. The sincerity in his eye gave her a jolt of butterflies. Pushing them back down- wherever they came from- she put one hand on her hip and let her weight rest on the opposite leg as to her hand was resting near. “Well, Artem, I was only asking. I didn’t mean to insult you in any way. You should come to believe that it was a fair question to ask. Similarly, it would be fair for you to ask of my intentions when in regard to you and Ms. Hibiscus.” The wind shuffled her hair a little, putting strands in her face. Pushing them back she had the feeling someone was watching them.

Throwing the cloak that she held on to over the back of the horse, she turned towards Artem again. “I am not sure if you realized this or not, but someone- or rather something- is watching us.” The word ‘something’ rolled off her tongue with utter disgust. The leg that was facing away from the onlooker was luckily the one that had the dagger attached to it. Lifting one side of her dress just past her mid-thigh, she pulled out her dagger and reattached it to her waist. She did this with the left over tie that she had from the laced up portion of the front of her dress. Smoothing down the front of her dress she closed her eyes and breathed in a little, letting out a sigh once she looked to make eye contact again. “I will say that you are the best road companion that I have ever had.” Then again, she doesn’t travel much (if at all).
