On the other side

Artem was only able to nod, as he feared his voice might reveal just how insecure he was about traveling like this. When she started to enter the portal he too grabbed hold of her arm and tightend his grip on the reins of the horse. Soon Winifred had completely dissapaired into the portal. Now there was no turning back.

When he stepped into split the horse started to get nervous and backed away. To avoid being pulled back out of the portal he had to pull even harder at the reins while trying to calm the frightened horse "Easy now. I don't like this either, but we can't turn back Now, alright?". The sound of his voice seemed to calm the horse down just a little, though it was still very reluctant to follow him.

The feeling of being inside of this strange magical shortcut was unlike anything he'd ever felt before. He lost all sense of direction. He couldn't even tell if he was still holding on to Winifred or the horse. Soon everything went dark around him, confirming his worst fear: He'd just made his biggest mistake ever and probably also his last... The darkness suddenly dissapaired and the light overwhelmed him. He gasped for air as he fell to his knees. Everything felt different, but he tried to focus on where they hopefully were. It was about then when he noticed that he was still holding on to Winifred. He let out a sigh of relief at this realization, but then to his right he heard the sound of hoofs thundering right past his head. Quickly he rushed to his feet to try and stop the panicked horse, but just as he got up a sickning feeling rushed through his entire body. This made him give up on the pursuit of the animal and left him struggling to just keep his breakfast down.
