Back to civilization
---- Somewhere 5 miles from Lorcans farmhouse, afternoon ----
Tancred ran for what must have been five miles. Finally they reached a signpost that indicated a town another mile to the north. "What do you say friend?" Mousvin nodded towards the sign. "Care to see what's become of civilization?"
It wasn’t a hard decision for Tancred to make. “Of course!” he said with a wide smile, already walking down the road.
A little while later they entered the town. Actually it would be more accurately to call it a village, but this didn’t matter to Tancred. He was just excited to finally be back among other people. It didn’t seem as though much had changed even though it had been more than 40 years since he’d last been outside his cell.
“Let’s see if we can get a nice room for the night and a proper meal” he said and went towards a nearby inn. It was only a small place where it seemed that most of the costumers where local people. There were quite a few curios eyes following them as Tancred headed for the bar. “Can I get a room for the night for me and my friend?” the innkeeper looked a little at the odd duo before nodding “Allright, and for dinner I would like some stakes, I think ten should be enough and please don’t cook them. Oh and of course, a pint of ale and whatever my companion wants”. This unusual order clearly surprised the innkeeper, as they might be used to a lot of different costumers, but they usually ordered more ordinary food. Tancred noticed the man’s hesitation and sighed a little annoyed before finding the small box of gems from the bag. He picked up one of the smaller stones and placed it on the counter “And don’t make us wait too long”. The man’s eyes widened at the sight of the precious stone, but quickly accepted it with a polite “Of course sir”. Then as soon as Mousvin had made his order Tancred went to get a table.
He took a seat and put down Mousvin on the table in front of him. “So, isn’t this great?” he smiled and looked around, ignoring the people starring at them. They didn’t need to wait long before their food and drinks were served. Tancred happily started on the pile of meat before him. It didn’t take him long to finish the first couple of stakes, but then he took a pause to look at his companion “Now that we’re partners why don’t you tell me a bit about yourself?”. He really was curios to know and now seemed as good a time as any to get to know each other.
