Taking a break
---- Verden, a small town outside Skeldergate Forest, early evening, 547 DBTR ----
Nate remained pretty much silent right until their dinner was served by the owner of the inn himself. The plate was beautifully made yet very simple and the cook had clearly put a lot of thought and effort into making this. It was nothing less than roasted duck with red wine sauce, his absolute favorite dish. Clearly the cook must have had been informed by this in advance, most likely by Matt. The thanked the innkeeper and then looked at Matt with a small smile while shaking his head sligthly.
Unsurprisingly the dish didn't taste quite as what he was served at home, but it was still delicious. He really appreciated the effort that had been put into making this meal, though as he looked around while eating it was clear that none of the other guests were treated anything nearly as fancy as he and his men were. Of course this wasn't new to him, but it only made the gab between him and "ordinary people" seem even greater despite the fact that a hunting trip like this was his way of getting to feel how others were living their life.
He looked down at his plate and his half finished meal, but had kind of lost his appetite. Though he wanted to eat some more just to make it seem as though he really had enjoyed the duck he just couldn't at the moment. He got up and quickly both Matt and Daniel jumped to their feet and turned their attention to him imediatly. "Easy now, there is no need for you to get up. I just want a moment to myself before I go to bed. Please don't let this ruin your conversation and just take the rest of the night off." he said with a kind smile and the two men sat down again and thanked him. Nate then grabbed his glass and headed towards some chairs placed next to the fireplace and took a seat. With a small sigh he took another sip of his wine, knowing that even though he had told his men to take the night off and they might even pretend to do so, but at least one of them would most likely be standing guard outside the inn all night. He had tried to stop them doing so, but to no avail and sure they had their reasons to do so. Sometimes his father just seemed a bit too protective which also made it all the more difficult to have any real social relations with anyone who wasn't of noble birth.
