Niples - "The price of silence"

Who: Seymour Niples and Queen Brittany
Where: On a Starbug heading back to the `Dwarf
When: After the meeting on Titan
Seymour looked out of the rear window of the Starbug. He'd got Holly
to autopilot back to the Blue Dwarf after the meeting on Totan. It
was ironic that he was looking out of the rear window, where they
had been… as he was wasn't sure what he would see if he looked
forward where they were going. He wasn't sure about the future now,
what did it hold? Earth was gone, the entire system was in turmoil,
people's entire lives and futures had just been ripped away from
them.
The President of Ganymede was a raving loony, the primeminister of
Titan was never awake long enough to make any kind of long-term
decisions, and the Queen was an air-headed tart. So who could they
look to for a safe future?
And what about his own future. Seymour shuddered. Jenny was
pregnant. This was one of his worst fears, and something he had
always shunned other people for. He was going to have a baby out of
wedlock or a stable relationship with a girl who he didn't love, and
probably hated him. Seymour bit his fingers nervously, what would
his peers, the other snobby upper-class Ambassadors and Admirals
think of him now?
Then a thought occurred to him. They never needed to know. Nobody
did. So far only he and Jenny knew about the baby, and perhaps
that's how it should stay. All he had to do was to convince Jenny
not to tell anyone…
…He started making a few calls.

Who: Jenny Bond
Where: Corridor near her quarters
When: Some time later
Jenny walked to her quarters awkwardly carrying a large bag of
clothes she'd just bought. The bump was starting to show now, and
her fitted clothes were getting too tight around the waist, so she'd
had to buy some more comfortable tops.
She growled in annoyance at the developing child inside her.
"Damn this bloody pregnancy!" She said annoyed.
As she got to her flat, two officers were stood outside.
"Miss Bond?" They asked.
"Yes what's wrong?"
"You're being relocated to different quarters. Please come with us."
"What? But why? I like those quarters… well no, I think it's a
shithole, but surely you can't be giving me worse ones!"
"No Miss, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised." Said the officer.
"Um… ohkaaay." She said curiously and let the men lead her to her
new quarters.
"Here you are. Enjoy madam." The officers gave her the key and
opened the door for her, then left.
Jenny walked in curiously. "This place is HUGE!" she said to
herself. She put her stuff on one couch, then saw another one. "I
have two couches!" Then she walked a bit further around a
pillar. "No… I have three! And… and a pretty good sized breakfast
bar… a pretty cool looking sound system… a home conema with… with
surround sound – ace!" She peered around a corner to find her
bedroom.
"…A massive bedroom! With…. A round bed, a bit odd but still better
than the lumpy piece of Space Corps issue crap I had before… an en-
suite bathroom… a… wow a hot-tub!"
She headed back out into the main room. "Look at the size of this
window! What a view… alright its only space, but its so huge…"
A starbug flew by, piloted by CK who was on a routine patrol, who
saw her through the massive window and waved.
"Um… okay… big window not such a good idea, but at least it's got…
electric curtains – wow!"
After exploring the massive quarters she started to wonder why she
had been transferred here. She headed back outside to see if the two
officers were still around.
"Excuse me, surely there's some kind of mistake. Why do I deserve
quarters like this. The only other person onboard with quarters like
this is… is… oh my god."
It dawned on her as she walked over to the coffee table and saw a
note on a box of chocolates. It was handwritten on expensive paper.
Jenny,
I thought you'd be much more comfortable in these quarters. Nobody
else needs to know about the pregnancy.

"Oh that smarmy bastard!" She cursed. "So he thinks he can buy my
affections eh?" then she thought harder about it.
"He's feeling guilty… or… he just wants to keep me quiet. That's it,
he's trying to buy my silence about the pregnancy!" he chuckled to
herself and felt a wicked smile cross her face.
"In that case, lets have some fun!"
