Chris charged into the hangar bay, ran to the far end and lifted what
looked like a
veil off of something. He took a step backwards and admired the beauty
that was his new
ship. It was a large ship, with a silvery metallic finish, and it was
big enough to
happily accomodate about 8 people.
"Holly" said Chris, "Where's Melissa?"
"She is no longer about the ship" he replied, and vanished off the
monitor.
"Shit!" shouted Chris, and, opened his new ship, and ran straight in.
"hey! wait for me!" called Kanako, trudging into the hangar bay with a
large suitcase,
"can i come along?" she asked, smiling that she knew he'd say yes.
She just walked up
to his ship, and got in, dropping her bag on the floor. "where are we
going?" she
asked.
"Im going to find my daughter" he replied, "because I dont want her
going on this
mission, it's too dangerous". "Not that I want you going on it either,
but I just cant
bring myself to make you stay either". He smiled and started up the
engines, his new
ship gliding out of the hangar bay door and off into the big black.
"do you even know where she is?" Kanako asked, looking out into the
vastness of space,
the stars slowly moving as the shiny silver ship drifted peacefully
past them. She
looked down at the radar screen, and saw several blips. "she could be
on any one of
those, and more, we don't even know if she's in range" she said,
"anyway, the chances
are she's with someone that will look after her" she added.
Chris turned around and glared at her. "Do I look remotely like I give
a damn who she's
with?" he asked Kanako, and after she remained silent he smiled at her
and went back to
flying his ship very haphazardly around some passing asteroids, which
gave him the same
expression on his face as a child who was playing with a new toy.
"I've got an idea" he
said. He began typing in a message to any search parties in the area
urging them to
reply asap.
In the Bug that contained Jack & co, the screen in front of Jack
beeped, and the
message appeared on it. He smiled, and activated his nano's. "dude,
don't worry,
she's with me, i'll keep her safer than myself" he said, calmly, and
confidently.
"ok ok" replied Chris to Jack through his Nano's. "Could you leave
some kind of trail
so i can pick you up on my radar and follow you" he asked.
"sure thing" Jack replied, but got cut off before he could say
anything else. On the
bug they were on, the mysterious alien ship passed straight through
them, depositing
one of their little green men in the engine room, where he began to
tear at the
workings of the craft.
"What the?" Jay said, "the controls are dead, the engines stopped" he
added, watching
as a planet started getting larger, the craft flew straight into the
atmosphere, where
some quick thinking from Jay slowed the descent by crashing into the
peak of a
mountain, destroying the landing gear, and tearing one of the engines
off, but still
reducing the speed of the crash. The bug slid across the sand of a
beach, where every
dune was in pairs, with a bush poking out of the peak of each.
On the landing, Jack was thrown out of the chair, and into the control
panel, knocking
him out.
"Jack?" said Chris, awaiting an explanation for the silence, when
there was none, he
repeated himself, "Jack? Come in". He looked down at the radar and saw
the trail that
they were following head straight into a planet, which, thankfully had
a breathable
atmosphere. He then noticed Kanako looking over his shoulder, "Do you
think they've
crashed?" She asked nervously.
"ten out of ten for the thinking there Kanako, you've really surpassed
yourself this
time, you've said something that's almost as obvious and something
Dienna Troi from
Star Trek would say...."
"oh well thankyou very much" Kanako said, "glad you think so highly of
me" she added,
and sat back in her chair, looking at the planet the trail led to.
"I'm sure Melissa
is ok, Jack said he'd protect her, and i know he will" she said,
smiling at Chris.
"Sorry, didnt mean to say that, but as you can probably tell, I'm
reasonably uptight
right now." He attempted to smile back at her but failed dismally,
most rulers could
make a better attempt at smiling that he could at the current time.
"Lets go and find
them then shall we" he said, he turned his ship, soon to be Christened
'Wormhole
Jumper' for reasons you will find out in due course, so that they were
following the
debris trail left by the starbug that Jack, his daughter, and god
knows who else from
Chris' point of view were, or had been travelling on.
"ahh smeg" Jack said as he woke up again, Melissa hovering over him
with a wet towel on
his forehead. She smiled aw he woke up "welcome back" she said, and
let him get up.
"what happened?" he asked, as he got to his feet. He looked out of
the broken window
into the landscape of the planet, the sand dune pairs, with bushes on
top of them
looked so peculiar, but Jack couldn't help but laugh as he saw them.
"Is this the planet?" asked Chris, who was too busy looking at where
he was flying to
look at the radar, after Kanako confirmed that it was indeed the right
planet, Chris
took the ship into the lower atmosphere and began scouting for what
was left of their
ship.
The silver ship glistened in the sunlight as it descended through the
clouds. A pillar
of smoke was appearing in the distance, pulling Chris' curiosity
towards it. He banked
the ship, and pushed the atmospheric engines to max, speeding over the
mountain tops.
Eventually they reached the smoke, where a starbug was thoroughly
broken, laying on the
sand of a beach.
He set the ship down in the sand, and taking one look out of the
window cause him to
have a fit of giggles. He opened the rear door, and walked outside,
only to be faced
with several dwarfers all pointing loaded guns in his direction.
"hold it guys, guns down" Jack said, being the highest ranking, and
indeed only
security officer of the crashed bug. Everyone lowered their weapons,
and let Chris &
Kanako onto the beach.
"heya man, what brings you here?" jack asked
"I was curious when you didnt answer me, and then my radar showed you
flying into the
atmosphere of this planet, so I decided to come and look for you"
"well, good job you did, this Bug isn't going anywhere" jack said,
"got space for
everyone here?" he asked.
"uhh, i say we explore here, there might be something to do with those
aliens here" Jay
said, the two hymenoptera warrios flanking him.
"Any objections to that plan?" Asked Chris to the small party that he
was now a member of, when nobody raised any objections, Chris smiled.
"good good" he said, "funny really" he continued, "I could've sworn
Alota said search the area in pairs"
"what? does that make a difference? no one follows her orders to the
letter anyway" Seymour said, "and anyway, can't we just split into
pairs now?" he added, smiling.
"shall we?" Jack said, looking around at the alien landscape.
