Zodar Arrives...

...Zodar runs through the hallways and decks like lightning to reach
the Engineering deck.
"I wish I hadn't eatened so many M&Ms on the trip over here." He was
feeling quite full of chocolate and (despite being of a healthy
weight) was running like an overweight man to a buffet.
"I'd better tell 'em I'm here." He thought as he searched for his
communications device.
"It was here last time I checked!" Zodar stopped running to look for
his comm. He looked around the deck. Nothing strange.
HE found the device and started to page Lt. Commander Smegg.
"Lt. Commander Smegg? Lt. Commander Smegg?" *static*
No resonse. He tried again.
"Lt. Commander Smegg, are you there? Are you there?!" *static*
Zodar stopped transmitting and said calmly "I guess he's not there."
Suddenly the communications device received Lt. Cmd. Smeggs voice.
"Hello? I'm here. Who is this?"
Zodar was a bit nervous. "Um... It's Christopher John Zodar. I've
just arrived direct from the academy.
"Oh, yes. We've been expecting you. You're late you know..."
"Yes I know... but the traffic through the Milky Way was horrendous!"
"Oh please, that's the oldest excuse in the book."
"Um, what book sir"
"Shut up, Chris. Just get your bum up to engineering. I cant help you
right now, but you might find some help there."
Zodar was extremely happy to be recieving his first orders.
"Oh Thankyou, Sir!" He said it like a very happy puppy. Pathetic.
He'd never once acted like this at the academy but I guess there's
always a first time...
Zodar was so overcome by this he just stood there with a stupid grin
on his face.
"Are you STILL there?! Standing around like something unhygenic?! Do
it NOW!"
"Yes sir." Zodars face turned serious.
"Oh, and Chris..."
"Yes?"
"Look behind you."
The link closed.
Chris looked around to see something crawling around in the darkness.
He'd rather not wait to find out what it was and ran to the elevator
on his way to the Engineering deck.
