*ACTION* The Background story....

Who:- Department heads
Where:- Conference Room
When:- After the Starbug returned to the Blue Dwarf.
"We were lucky to get out alive" said Jay, having explained to Alota what
was on the planet. "Rio..sadly wasn't so lucky"
Jay had lost a lot of friends since being aboard the Blue Dwarf, including
his sister with whom he had been reunited not more than 3 hours earlier, it
had become part of life, and as much as he hated to admit it, nowadays he
could shrug it off as though it never happened.
"Well..." said Alota "I'm sending anyone else down there! We'll give Efof
and his companions 24 hours to get back up here and if there not
aboard.....well we have to leave."
"It may not that simple captain" said Phil standing up "I came upon one of
the simulants who had been badly wounded but was still functioning, he gave
me this." he waved the data disc. "He told me, we had to get out of there
and never return....but then I watched this...." he inserted the disc into a
slot in the wall beneath a large monitor.
"Holly, play disc"
The screen flickered into life.
Words were displayed across it.
"Genetically Engineers Life Form experiment #0001-X"
"X?" Asked Keto "Isn't that classified?"
"SSSH!!" said Jay, grabbing a handful of popcorn that had miraculously
appeared and shoving in his mouth.
The video showed images of scientists working hard. Another came close to
the camera and introduced himself.
"I" spoke the man, "Am Doctor Walker" his name, it would appear was Doctor
Walker. "We here at the US military research centre, Area 51, have done
it!!" excitement was in his voice "For the last 12 months we have been
working on creating a genetically engineered life-form or as we call it a
GELF"
"Gelf?" said Jay "Is that it?! Phil's a GELF for god's sake and you dont
here anyone bragging about him!"
"Jay ssh...the date on this disc is nearly a century old, it was recorded in
2006! Before we'd even mastered space travel!!" Phil pointed out.
"These creatures, will fight our wars for us, saving the lives of
millions...this is the first, designed specifically for combat he has been
granted with phenomenal abilities."
"But..." said Alota, speaking over the voice of Doctor Walker "GELF's aren't
warriors? They colonise planets for us!"
"Now yes" said Phil "But they were originlly designed to fight wars, this
was the reason that was changed....."
The tape now displayed an image of the gelf in a large tube, several
apparatus were attached to its body, it was asleep, the tube full of some
kind of clear liquid. It stood around 8 feet tall, a dark reddish skin
colour across it's body. It had thick black hair and atop it's head two
goatlike horns.
The creature's eyes suddenly opened.
"ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE AWAKE YET!!" came a voice in the background, Doctor
Walker spun around suddenly. "NO!! We haven't programmed the control
restricitions into it's brain yet!!"
The control restrictions, the tape explained through on-screen text, were
the only thing that the research team had not yet programmed ino the GELF,
and were designed to make the GELF subservient to human kind, to protect
them, obey them, and never EVER to harm them unless they were the enemy it
had been sent in to fight.
They hadnt been programmed in. The GELF had no such restrictions.
And it was pure evil.
Scientific equipment, fire extinguishers, stools, computers, sharp items,
blunt items and heavy items began to lift up from where they lay and hurl
themselves around the room. "It's using its telekinesis!!" shouted one
doctor "WE HAVE TO ABORT!! DESTRo...." he was silenced by a heavy piece of
equipment slamming into him, and crushing him against the wall. The
creature's arms extended and smashed through its glass housing.
The camera flickered and cut out.
On the screen came the picture of an army general.
"This was 6 months ago" he said "This creature was blessed with a telepathic
ability, and might unlike anything we have seen before. Without it's control
restrictions it was pure evil. It was as powerful as the devil himself."
One thing was certain, from the pictures seen earlier it sure looked like
old fire-pants. "We managed to subdue the creature" continued the general.
"And we lost a hell of a lot of good men doing it...right now the creature
is cryogenically suspended aboard a probe we have contructed and launched
which using new technology developed specifically for this mission, will
deposit the creature where it will harm noone ever again."
The screen a picture of the galaxy. "Here" said the general as a cursor on
screen appeared "In the dead centre of the universe, behind this incredible
naturally occuring electromagnetic forcefield.."
The tape ended, and another face came on screen, it was Admiral Travis of
the Space Corp.
"The probe" said the Admiral "Used an experimental wormhole drive powered by
anti-matter, we were never able to produce enough anti-matter to make the
drive workable in larger vessels. That probe was the only one of its kind.
But on a trip to a parralell universe the Blue Dwarf encountered this
technology were it had been prefected using normal fuel sources and an
expoentially lower consumption....which is why we are sending you'r platoon
of simulants aboards the Blue Dwarf to make use of their wormhole drive and
to the centre of the universe to investigate the srange energy readings
coming from this planet. This is top secret, if the GELF is loose, who knows
what could happen."
Phil stopped the tape.
"The GELF was indeed loose" said Phil "The simulant's memery logs recorded
the entire mission. And they discovered that the cryo-pod had broken down
around 5 years ago and since then anyone who passed away...was drafted into
an..'army of evil'...which gives an idea of just HOW powerful this guys
telepathy is..they encountered the GELF..and learend that he intends to use
this army to unleash on the universe."
"And let me guess..." said Jay "Were all that stands in his way...."
"You got it!" said Phil "ALota..that planet IS for all intents and purposes,
hell. And if he's succesful, Hell will encompass everything."
"Set up an assault force....we're going back down there...." ordered Alota.
