Crossing ground that man was not meant to tread... again....

"Almost instantly, i was head of navigation, and they were so far
away from
a station, they had to bring me back that quickly"
"ok"
For the next 10-15 minutes, they were sitting in silence.
"Enough about my death now, can we get back to the point please Keats"
<end clip>
"Tsk... well... Severn says he's been tinkering with that heathen
device for a few months now, hes had... some help i believe..."
"So when do you think it'l be ready?"
Keats shrugged and took a long toke on his rollie, sat there for a
moment and released the smoke.
"You know.. each cigarette takes 3 minutes off your life span" Chriss
added as the smoke wafted across him. Keats smiled, and replied
"Ah yes, but it takes 5 minutes to smoke one, therefore, i count it
as a net gain"
Chris smiled.
"Anyway, i asked, how long until its ready?"
Keats looked thoughtful.
"I dunno... a day? 2 days? a year? He said he'd devote himself to it,
frankly i think Severns been a tad bored recently..."
><><><><30 meters away, in an isolated enviormental room><><><><
"Hows the machine looking?"
Severn took out a knife and chipped the grease encrusted sweat from
his brow.
"Well... im not sure.. i mean.. the notes you gave me were precise..
but..."
"You not sure about the Ethics of making a machine to rival God?"
Severn picked himself up off the floor about a minute later and wiped
an oily tear from his eyes.
"Aha... ahem... ahh... sorry.. that was a good one"
"Look.... we havent got all day, when will it be ready?"
"Well... i just have to configure it and add a DNA sample, and
introduce a blank into the tube to build from and were done, but.. i
mean.. who would want themselves cloned?"
"Ohh... we wernt thinking of cloning.."
"No?"
"Nope."
"Huh... what is this for then?"
"Ressurection"
"Huh... well... thats a load of bull, it wont work for that, i
mean... ressurection"
"It worked once, we are very well aware fo that"
"Yeah, but Jack had only been dead for a few seconds. The last
important person to of died onboard was several months ago. Any DNA
thats left over from them would be dead"
"Have you heard of Inplanted D/RNA? Its used in Holograms"
"Well.. sure.. the cells remember and all that, its how they managed
teleportation of amoebic organisms... well... faxed more like"
"Exactly.. inplanted DNA is used in the holographic matrix to present
an accurate image of the oraganism and allow it to retain its memorys"
"Look.. thats all very well, but holograms arnt alive.. it wont
work.."
A different voice now spoke.
"Well.. your egetting p-paid for this. Just calobrate it.. we have a
t-test subject arriving s-s.... shortly"
><><><>< Back in the Science room ><><><><
Keats leant back a moment.
"Ok... ok, il infrom him"
"Hmm?"
"Well.. tomorrows the day... don't ask me how.. but he managed to fix
it already..."
Chris jumped up and punched the air.
"Woah there sparky... your gonna have to play it cool. Im pretty sure
that its against company policy to bring back the dead"
"Name on directive that says so"
Keats shrugged.
