RoboScientist - Part 1
Who: Keto, Trisees, Rufus
Where: Blue Dwarf
-------------------------
Doctor Charles Keto sighed as he pushed his best friend Mental
Technology Scientist Lawrence Trisees along Grey Corridor 451 of the
Blue Dwarfs crew quarters deck. Rufus Viagra, trainee scientist,
walked alongside the pair of them, looking about fearfully at the
terrible damage that had been done to the ship.
They had no idea how long it would take the ship to be fixed, but from
the looks of all the damage it would be a good while before it was
anything near to how habitable it had been (and even that had been sub
par with a local ghetto).
"I just realised what the definition of irony is," mused Keto to
himself as he pushed the immobile Scientist forward.
"What's that?" asked Rufus.
"The only man with enough know how to create robotic body parts and
connect them securely to the brain, is currently the person who needs
them most and is in such bad shape that tying shoelaces in a knot is
one of the great conundrums."
Trisees began laughing at his hand.
"What are we looking for doc?" asked Rufus.
"A working elevator," replied Keto. "Because if I know Trisees, he
wouldn't have let Supply Field B go unguarded. There has to be
something down there for us to use. There has to be," he said the
last part a little quietly as he stared downwards at the paralysed
figure of Trisees, hunched up and bandaged. The drugs seemed to be
wearing off a little and Trisees was beginning to cringe.
As Keto continued to push the Scientist, he pulled a small syringe
from his pocket and injected a stream of greenish liquid into Trisees arm.
* Two Hours Later *
"I think this lift might be working!" stated Rufus happily, pressing a
button to make the doors open and close. Keto wheeled Trisees into
the elevator as Rufus pushed the button for the Cargo decks.
"Lets hope it goes all the way," muttered the Doctor as the doors
closed shut tightly.
A short while later and the trio were standing in Supply Field B.
"Dear lord," said Keto sadly. "Everything's gone."
Supply Field B had practically been gutted. It looked empty and
desolate, a vast stretch of empty cargo bay. It was so empty and vast
all they could see was a long black stretch of emptiness. The edges
of the cargo bay looked grey and looming in the murky atmosphere and
Rufus sighed loudly.
"Then there's no hope?" he asked sadly.
Trisees shook his head, wincing a little. "There is always hope," he
said, looking upwards. Keto looked confused as Trisees reached over
to the bare wall by their side. He placed a hand on a small piece of
metal and there was a slight humming from behind the panel - complete
with orange beam of light enveloping his limb.
"Look," he stated.
The blackness seemed to waver slightly - appearing grey and other
colours in small pinpricks over the cargo bay - before vanishing and
showing them a cargo bay filled with boxes and objects.
"What the hell was that?" asked Keto.
"A prototype device of mine. Think of it as Quantum Storage," Trisees
said, trying to laugh before falling unconscious.
