She blinked at the injury and then at the scanner. Her brain couldn't cope with the old memory and the contradicting information bombarding her senses. Her mind was telling her she was back then, but the information was wrong. There was another fizzel and Amber passed out.

The Demon's safty features kicked in. Sensing it's pilot was 'unoperational' it cut the engines and powered down all non essensial systems, diverting power to the shields the Aerons had given it.
Amber slumped forwards over the console and was unaware of the actions taken by the ship. In her brain, the tiny nanobotic army continued to wreak havoc with her brain. Her body was taking much longer to adjust to the nano's than anyone thought. It was almost like the nano's were having fun with her, testing her to see how much she could take. They found an interesting connection, an interesting growth pattern that should not be there. A swarm of them clustered around this new plaything and attached themselvs to the alien formation in her brain.
A bug ship attacked the floating space craft. The ship didn't like this and opened up two of the four laser banks onto the offending ship. If there was sound in the giant vacuum of space then the surrounding fleet would have heard the bug screaming in pain as it was speedily melted and broken down into mollecular pieces. If a ship could smile, The Demon would be grinning.
Amber woke up. She didn't like this place, it was strange, it wasn't normal and her mum wasn't nearby. She sniffed as tears welled up in her eyes.
  "Wanna go home." She said. "Want mummy" The threatening tears spilled over down her cheeks and she wailed like a three year old. The nano's had found and overridden the part of Ambers brain that a long time ago the alien technology had fixed. The nano's had caused Amber's brain to become equal to that of her cellular age.
