The origins of the Castor

"you know Jack, that side effect of using the weapon is the one thing
i couldn't figure out. There are a few bio-circuits in it, which
lead me to believe that it wasn't human." Severn began thinking out
loud, Jack just listened, not understanding any of it.
"and?" he said, his lack of brain power not grasping the
possibilities.
"the strange thing is, i found Hymenoptera DNA in those bio circuits,
i think its a bug weapon. whats even worse is that i dated it at 2
million years old." Jack looked blank "that means there were laser
weapons before people on earth had projectile weapons." Jack
continued to look blank.
"never mind" Severn ended. "I've got to check on something" Severn
said as he left the cargo bay, and headed towards the Medi-Bay.
------at the medibay-------
"Doc, can you check something for me?" he asked as soon as he
entered, the Medi-Bay was now very clean and tidy, ready for the next
wave of injuries.
"what are you doing?!?! get your grease covered self out of my nice
clean room!!" keto ordered, pushing severn from his room.
"just scan this for me would you? i found Bio-Circuits in it, and
being an engineer, i have no idea what they do. I was wondering if
you could find out with your... medical stuff, uhh...
medical 'expertise'" he added, the flattery found its way into Keto,
and he couldn't help himself.
"what exactly are you looking for in it?" he asked, keeping Severn
outside the medi-bay.
"well, i found hymenoptera DNA, and there is a strange frequency
coming from it, can you pin down what it is?"
"I'll give it a go, wait here" Keto entered the office, scanners
could be heard firing up.
------five minutes later---------
"OH MY GOD!!!!" Keto screamed as he emerged from his office holding
the gun by the trigger loop with one finger, holding it at arms
length.
"its got brain waves!!!" he said, throwing it to Severn, who caught
it clumsily.
"from what i can tell, its a very specialised brain, with what i can
see as 'telepathic' ability. it can't do anything else." he said,
using air quotes as he said 'telepathic'
"brain waves eh? that might explain why it drains life energy" he
said, trailing off as he walked away from the medi-bay, forgetting
his manners as he left Keto waiting for a 'thankyou'.
