Foreign Particles

Who: The Phoenix Crew (and, I guess, Dean)
Where: Dean, heh
When: Well, we know his blood pressure, but as for the time...

> "We're lost aren't we?"
> "Well not lost as such, I do now actually think I know where we

> "Where?"
> "In his big toe."
> "What? We couldn't BE any further away! How did we get there?"
> "I think in all honesty, -his heart is in the wrong place! We
> should have passed it on the left! Did anyone see a heart?"
> There were mumbles in the back. This was like a day trip with your

"Look, I never trained in navigation!" snapped Keto, as he realised
his mistake and turned his chart the right way up.
"...did you just have that upside down!?" growled Jay, having
caught the motion in the reflection of one of the monitors.
"...no."
"You did, didn't you?"
"I was merely observing it in a standard medical-practitioner
manner," sniffed Keto haughtily, "Anyway...head for that capillary
dead ahead. It should take us back into a venule, then to a vein,
then to the heart."
"Wasn't that your last navigational plan as well?"
"Shut up and fly."
The Phoenix dove into a capillary, which even at its current size
was a fairly tight squeeze. The entire ship shuddered faintly.
"What was that?" asked Seymour nervously.
"Nothing, heh," said Jay, quickly pressing the button to cause the
Phoenix to shake off the bit of capillary tubing it had just scraped
up.
"Is it just me, or are we being followed?" asked Phil, pointing at
a few flashing lights on a screen. Everyone turned to look, even Jay.
"EYES ON THE ROAD! EYES ON THE ROAD!" everyone simultaneously
screamed.
"Alright, alright, jeez," sighed Jay, returning to the main
viewscreen, "So what are those lights?"
There was another, greater shuddering of the ship, and something
large and globulous suckered itself onto the outer viewscreen.
"YEAARGH!"
"That," observed Tara, "Is a white blood cell."
"Uh-huh," nodded Keto, as the white blood cell in question began to
expand, "A phagocyte, to be precise."
"What the hell is it doing?" frowned Canazza as they all glared at
the creature spreading slowly across the front of this ship, "It
looks like it's going to explode."
"Not quite," said Keto slowly, "See, phagocytes travel around the
body finding foreign particles and dealing with them appropriately."
There was a long pause.
"You don't mean shaking them by the hand and wishing them bon
voyage, do you?" said Jay after a while.
"No. I mean by swallowing and digesting them," said Keto.
"Ah."
