Cmdr Niples "What do we do?"

Niples watched as the screen blinked off and turned to the female communications officer. "Track that signal, find out where it came from!"
"yes sir" the officer replied and started working on her computer while listening in her earpiece.
 
Niples pressed a big red button on the wall and red alert sirens blared. The lights were replaced by dull red ones. Niples often wondered why the normal lights were replaced by insufficient dim lights at red alery- surely this was the time you most needed to see.
 
On the rest of the ship people heard the red alert sirens and rushed for cover. The promenade which was buzzing with shoppers was suddenly emptied and shopkeepers closed their shops. Holly had announced that the ship may be invaded by an unknown hostile force, which added to the panic and confusion.
Some shopkeepers that didn't want their valuble stock to fall into the wrong hands armed themselves with blaster-rifles and took up defensive positions behind the counters.
 
Captain Cannon was in his quarters when the alert sounded, he immediately dived for cover under his table for fear of his own health.
The door buzzer rang. He didn't answer it in case it was someone come to kill him, he didn't like the fact that the Clarkson brethren (or whoever they were) wanted him and Niples dead.
The door was forced open and commander Niples entered. "Sir?" he said when he saw the captain cowering under the table. "What are you doing?"
"I'm errr.....looking for Bobo, yes. Thats what I'm doing, looking for Bobo. He erm... escaped."
Seymore looked on the table at the mouse's cage.
"He's still in the cage sir."
The captain looked up, rather ashamed. "Oh really. Of course of course."
He stood up and brushed himself down.
 
"Look" said Niples. "If we dont give ourselves over to this Bob guy- he'll blow up the ship."
"Hmmm, sounds reasonable" said the captain. "Suggestions?"
"I suggest we surrender Sir." said Niples proudly. The captain went into shock.
"ARE YOU MAD?! Surrender to that madman?"
"There are over a thousand people on this ship. Some of them are just innocent civillians, some are just children. Surrendering ourselves is the only way to save them."
The captain thought about this for a minute or two. Niples thought he had actually gone to sleep so waved a hand in front of his eyes. The captain sprung to life once again.
"No, he might destroy the ship anyway."
"What do you suggest we do sir?"
 
"We fight."
