Jay grunted as he deflected another scoring attempt by his opponent on the Zero-Gee hover-ball court. He had to get away from the rest of the ship, get away from everyone else's problems and get his mind off his own, the only place he knew to do that was in the Blue Dwarf Gym, becuase he, and Jasmine when she was rostered for the fitness suite were about the only two people out the entire 1500+ lethargic crew members that ever came in here.
He leapt upward, reaching to intercept another shot by his opponent, Efof, (on Jays orders) twisting in the air and stretching to his full height, barely missing the ball by a hairs width and watching it soar into the goal. He slowly floated back to the ground in the gravity-less environment and cursed himself. "You...realise..." he panted, struggling to catch his breath "You only won cos I more or less let you win"
"Really?" Efof replied, in his usual naive manner, buying every word Jay had for sale "Why?"
"Well...you'd feel bad if you were beaten by a guy with only two arms...besides I cant focus on the game, what with Alota being in a coma"  
"How is she?" Efof replied
"In a coma Efof"
"So whens she back? hope she sent a postcard seeing as you didnt go with her"
"WHAT?!"
"Acoma...isnt that a place in Africa?.."
"Efof You'll be in a coma in a minute mate.."
"You sending me on holiday"
"EFOF..." Jay's frustrated rant was interuppted by a bleeping thorught the wall speaker, followed by Kara's voice.
"Jay, I'm recieving a distress call." she said
"Have you reported it to the drive room?" He asked.
"Not yet, I thought you might wanna see this first..."
Jay cast a confused glance at Efof, hoping for some kind of answer with no luck, Efof was distracted by a flashing light on the wall.
"Ok, meet me in my office in 15 minutes..."
Jay walked in to his office, Kara, was sat at his desk "I picked this up when I was out on the cargo run you assinged me.."
She flipped the monitor round to show him.
"Oh my god..."
"Yup.."
"Its the Ulysees....our old ship.." 
After Red Dwarf, but before Blue Dwarf, Jay and Kara had been stationed together on a space corp militia vessel called the Ulysees, Jay quit after a few months to join Blue Dwarf but Kara stayed for a while longer.
Now, the ulysees was in trouble, big time...
"Kara.." Jay said not looking up "We launch in 30 minutes..."

Kara was still out flying after blowing the crap out of robots. Even though her new ship was probably buried under 10 feet of pure crap in a swamp somewhere.
