Engineering of the only Blue Dwarf left
Forty-five minutes after a big bang
 
Kayn looked out of the window to the abandoned areas of engineering. The huge flash was taking it's time to die down. He went back to work on his new toy. One of the big problems with engineering, Kayn thought, is not the skills, nor the procedures or the degrees or whatnot - it was getting the metal to stay in the right place whilst he tried to weld the huge metal 'K' next to the letter 'Y'
 
A huge beep came out of the intercom. There was apparently going to be a memorial procession in two days to credit the suicide squad in the only mission they actually achieved suicide...
 
Kayn threw down the spanner and looked out of the window towards the huge fireworks display. Nipels had said that they needed to get back on track to thier primary mission to find red dwarf in thier dimension - and needed to jump back as soon as the procession was over.
 
Kayn locked the doors to the engineering bay he was working at and skulked off to his quarters. Finding a decent suit was going to take time.
