ACTION:- Running low on Texaco
Posted byPosted: Dec 4, 2002, 2:40pm
Who:- Jay, Tara
To anyone in the drive room, the grate seemed to throw itself from the wall and topple the floor with a crash. It was in fact propelled by Lt Cmdr Jay Chryslers right foot.
He jumped down,. followed by Tara.
Jay walked over to the helm station and started randomly jabbing at keys to try and get some kind of response.
Tara headed for the op's station.
"Jay!" she said "Nothing works!...not a bloody thing!"
"I know...Holly's locked everything out" he said, wiggling the control stick, a few stations were lit up, status read outs on the screens.
Jay caught sight of the helm station log in screen.
He typed his login 'ChryslerJ37KL'
'enter password' flashed on the screen.
"*****" appeared on the screen as he typed.
"ACCESS DENIED...LT CMDR CHRYSLER (J) YOU ARE LOCKED OUT OF HOLLY AND VITAL SYTEMS UNDER ORDER OF LT CMDR CHRYSLER (J)"
"SMEG!" Jay yelled "THAT MAKES SO LITTLE SENSE IT HURTS!!!!"
"Easy flyboy!" Tara said, trying to calm Jay's rage. "Theres gotta be an override somewhere"
"Found it...." said Jay, from underneath one of the control stations.
"Whu..." said Tara as Jay emerged with a handful of wires.
"Did you HOTWIRE Holly?"
"Nah..." said Jay innocently "Just yanked a few cables...."
"Hey.." said Tara. "The doors have opened"
Sure enough the drive room doors were functioning. Jay had cut off Holly's connection to them, a few stations around the drive room were also coming to life.
"Damn I'm good..." said Jay. "Uh-oh....."
"uh-oh....uh-oh what?"
Jay was stood by the hlem console again, one of the systems he'd now managed to get control of.
"Fuel levels are critical.....according to the readouts we got three days of travel..."
He tapped in a few command into the navi-comp.
"What are you doing?" Tara asked, watching the navigation officer at work.
"Setting a course for the nearest planet, station or ship...the navi-comp will find it and head there..." the navicomp worked for a few seconds then flashed a message on the screen.
"Ah.." said Jay
"What?" said Tara "you said 'ah'...'ah's' never good...why ah'?"
"You know I said we've got three days of fuel..."
"Yeh..."
"Were four days from the nearest planet..."
"Ah..."
Jay pulled his mobile from his pocket, dropped it, and watched as it hit the floor with a cracking noise.
After several failed attempts to put the shattered cell-phone back together he looked up at Tara and said.."Can I borrow your phone?"
Tara handed it over.
Jay dialled the number and placed the phone to his ear "Captain, you better come to the drive room..."
