Who: Rufus, Elwood

Rufus wandered down a corridor, the batteries in his flash light had
run down ages ago. A feeble light came from the other end of the
passage. Rufus was torn between running away and crying for his mummy
or bashing the thing over the head with his now dead torch. He chose
the latter option and stood at the side of the corridor and waited
for the thing with the light. As it approached the light was
accompanied by a whirring noise much like a skutter. Ever since his
expereiments with the last skutter he had been fascinated by the
motorised machines.
Poor Elwood didn't know what hit him. All of a sudden there was a
ringing in his audio sensors.
"What was that?" The skutter whirred
"It can talk!" said Rufus nearly falling over in shock "You shouldn't
even be working during the power out!" The skutter seemed offended.
Rufus thought this was quite amazing. His next thought was one his
father would have been proud of, because it was 'I must study this
machine'.
"I had the sense to recharge my backup battery before the attack."
Rufus didn't think the skutter knew what he was doing. Which was
walking behind him towards his shut down switch. Alas he did.
"Please don't do that unless you want to replace a componant in me"
Rufus was lost for words. Not only was this skutter talking but it
was remarkable intelegant. More reasons for study decided Rufus.
"All I wan't to do" said Rufus reaching for a screwdriver in his
pocket. "Is to look inside you to see where your programming went
wrong.".....
